Solar battery rebates in Queensland
Queensland’s own Battery Booster rebate closed to new applications in 2024, so Queenslanders currently rely on the federal battery discount plus optional VPP rewards to cut the cost of going off-peak.

- Queensland Battery Booster. Closed to new applications since 8 May 2024. Households already approved are still being paid out, but there is currently no new-application QLD state battery rebate. We will flag it here if it reopens.
- VPP rewards. Join an approved Virtual Power Plant and get paid for energy your battery exports at peak times.

Are solar batteries worth it in Queensland?
For most Queensland homes with solar, yes, especially now the federal discount cuts roughly 30% off the upfront cost. A battery banks the power your panels make during the day and runs your home through the expensive evening peak, instead of selling it back for a few cents.
